Troubleshooting Scenario 1: Morning Routine¶
This guide covers common issues you might encounter while playing Scenario 1: Morning Routine and provides steps to resolve them.
1. Right Hand is Invisible or Missing¶
Issue: When the scenario starts, you cannot see your right hand or use it to interact with objects.
Solution: - This is intentional. In this scenario, the protagonist is missing their right arm. Your right hand will remain invisible until you complete the objective to equip the prosthetic arm. - However, a guide ray should still be visible when you point at UI menus. - To resolve this, simply progress through the scenario: proceed to the shower room and equip the prosthetic arm using your left hand. Once equipped, your right hand will become fully visible and functional.
2. Difficulty Adjusting the Shower Temperature¶
Issue: You are unable to turn on the shower or adjust the temperature dial to fill the completion gauge.
Solution: - Grabbing the Dial: Ensure you are using your left hand and that you are close enough to the showerhead. Press and hold the interact button (Trigger/Grip) to grab the dial. - Turning the Dial: While holding the dial, physically rotate your controller. Turn to the left for hot water and to the right for cold water. - Gauge Not Filling: If the gauge stops filling, it means the water temperature is no longer optimal. Keep adjusting the dial slightly left or right until the gauge starts filling up again. - Turning it Off: Remember to press the button on the showerhead again to stop the water once the gauge is full.
3. Prosthetic Arm Won't Attach¶
Issue: You have reached the prosthetic arm but it won't equip when you try to grab it.
Solution: - You must use your left hand to grab the prosthetic arm. - Make sure you are standing close enough to the arm hanging in the shower room. Aim at it until the interaction highlight appears, then press the interact button. - Save System Synchronization: If you have completed all previous conditions and the arm still won't attach, there might be a temporary issue with the AWS save system. Please exit to the main menu and log back in. Upon returning, you should be able to equip the arm normally.
4. Issues Interacting with Mary (AI Character)¶
Issue: Mary is not responding to your voice, or the virtual keyboard is not appearing.
Solution: - Microphone Issues: Check if your microphone is muted or if "Speech to Text" is disabled in the Quick Menu settings. - OpenAI Connection: If the server connection drops, the game will automatically switch to offline mode. In this case, use the [Choose Questions] menu to proceed with scripted dialogue. - For more detailed AI interaction troubleshooting, please refer to the Troubleshooting Interview Audio and Microphone Issues guide.
5. Cannot Drink Coffee / Scenario Won't Complete¶
Issue: You grabbed the coffee cup, but the scenario completion screen does not trigger.
Solution: - Make sure you have completed all previous objectives in order (Wake up → Shower → Equip Prosthetic Arm → Talk to Mary/Pet Dog). The coffee objective is the final step. - Ensure you are physically bringing the coffee cup close to your headset (mouth area) to trigger the drinking action.
